Personal Trainer & RWF Owner

Derran Langston

I have over 20 years worth of first-hand training experience. Within that time I’ve been diagnosed with, been treated for, and beaten cancer. I’ve broken my leg and snapped ligaments in my knee (not, I hasten to add, from poor training practices – we can blame football for that one!). My start weight when recovering from illness was 10.5 stone, and I now come in at a fairly lean 14 stone. So, not only do I know a thing or two about how to add on some muscle, but I can vividly remember what it feels like to start from scratch.

Weight training is still my main passion, and my personal bests in the ‘big three’ lifts to date are a 160kg bench press, a 230kg squat and a 240kg deadlift.

I have competed in powerlifting up to National level. Now, however, I train for the simple reason that I enjoy it, and enjoy the results.
Whilst my personal journey is about strength and muscle gain, I have vast experience helping clients to also lose body fat and prepare for events, challenges, or just to live a life that feels easier. Most things are easier with a bit of strength under your belt, as most of our clients will happily attest to. I’ve logged over 25,000 hours of one-to-one training with clients, so rest assured you’re dealing with someone who routinely gets their clients the results they are looking for.

Personal Trainer

Sophie Reynolds

My name is Sophie, and I am a third-year Sport and Exercise Science student at NTU, as well as a personal trainer.

My journey with fitness began in 2017 when I set out to lose weight, but quickly fell in love with the way it made me feel both physically and mentally. My initial focus was on building muscle and the way I looked, but now I train for strength and am aiming to compete in powerlifting competitions in the future.

Through learning the correct training techniques during my own journey, I then went on to achieve my personal training qualification in 2018 and have since been able to help others reach their own fitness goals. I have two years of experience working in a commercial gym and work with all kinds of people to help them lose/gain weight and achieve any other goals they may have.

One of my passions is helping women feel strong and confident in their everyday lives and in the gym. If you’re looking for a personal trainer who will support and guide you towards your fitness goals, I would love to work with you!

I have been training for over 15 years. When I first started training, I had a bad back, shoulder problems and I was very underweight. I can remember what it was like starting out from scratch and being nervous about going to the gym for the first time. I have gone from 10 stone to 14 stone during this time.

I love training, so being able to channel my career to incorporate my own hobby is a dream come true!

Like most people, I wasted years as I made many mistakes when I started out. I enjoy passing on the lessons I’ve learned over the years and save other people from making the same mistakes that I made in my early twenties.

While strength training is my passion, I’ve trained a variety of clients, all with different goals and fitness levels. I’ve trained clients aged from 7 to 75 years old.

There have been clients who had issues with obesity, were underweight, had knee problems, bad backs, diabetes, lupus, a stroke, mobility issues or were recovering from a torn rotator cuff. As well as 1-2-1 sessions, I also run outdoor group sessions twice a week at the gym.

I am confident I can help you no matter what your goal is.

Personal Trainer

Matt Stafford

Hey, I’m Matt. I’m one of the personal trainers at Real World Fitness. I’m also a full-time fireman and the personal trainer for the Nottingham central fire station.

My passion is strength, hypertrophy training (bodybuilding style training) and teaching the correct methods and progressions. I have spent over 20 years training personally and have been coaching over the last five.

My personal enjoyment as a trainer comes from me passing on knowledge that I’ve learnt over the years and helping people enjoy the process. I’ve made so many mistakes over the years whether it be exercise selection or frequency of training and can help you avoid these pitfalls.

I love it when my clients get to a stage where they both understand and enjoy the process of strength training – increments, frustrations, achievements and all.

I look forward to the opportunity to help you with these goals! Come say hi if you see me in the gym, always happy to help if I can.

I had a personal trainer before and didn’t notice any progress…but training with Derran has been a completely different experience.

Claire

I started to feel the benefits immediately, and now my shoulder is fixed!

The thing that I value most about the PT aspect is the individuality
