Getting the Most From Your 7-Day Trial

Firstly, welcome to RWF.

The reason we offer a seven-day trial is simple. I don’t think you can really decide whether a gym is right for you in one visit.

You might come in at 10am on a Tuesday and love it, then discover it’s a little busier at 6pm. Equally, you might visit on a Monday evening, think it’s busier than you’d like, then come back on a Saturday morning and find it’s exactly what you’re looking for.

One thing I can guarantee you is that the gym is NEVER too busy to train. Even a Monday night at 6pm is rarely going to involve queuing for equipment. This is a very conscious business decision – we simply don’t want, or need, a super-busy gym.

Seven days gives you chance to see what the gym is really like and, just as importantly, decide whether we’re the right fit for you.

Don’t try to do everything on day one.

One mistake people sometimes make is trying every machine, every exercise and every corner of the gym on their first visit.

There’s no need.

Train as you normally would.

Get familiar with the layout.

If you see something you’re not sure about, just ask.

There are no silly questions if you don’t know the answer!

Come in more than once.

The people who get the most from the trial nearly always visit several times.

Try different times of day if you can.

See what the atmosphere feels like.

You’ll quickly get a feel for how the gym works and whether it suits your routine.

Ask questions.

Please don’t spend the week wondering where something is or how something works.

If I’m around, come and ask. If I’m not, message me on the number or the email you’ve been contacted on.

If one of our personal trainers is available, ask them.

We’d much rather spend two minutes helping you than have you guessing.

This isn’t a test.

People sometimes apologise because they don’t know how to use a machine or haven’t trained for years.

Please don’t! We see complete beginners, experienced lifters, people returning after injury and people who’ve never stepped into a gym before.

Nobody expects you to know everything.

Train how you enjoy training.

You don’t need to impress anyone.

You don’t need to lift heavy.

You don’t need to spend two hours here.

Use the equipment that suits your goals, take your time and get comfortable.

The aim isn’t to have the perfect workout. It’s to decide whether you can see yourself training here for years rather than days.

Get a feel for the people.

One of the biggest reasons people stay here isn’t actually the equipment.

It’s the training environment.

Notice how people treat each other, whether you’re waiting for equipment and whether you feel comfortable.

Those things matter far more long term than any amount of training kit.

If something isn’t right, tell us.

If you’ve got a question, a concern or something doesn’t quite make sense, please say.

We’d much rather have the conversation than have you leave wondering.

Sometimes there’s a simple explanation, or sometimes it’s something we can improve.

Either way, we’d rather know.

At the end of the week…

Hopefully, you’ll know whether Real World Fitness feels like somewhere you can genuinely enjoy training.

If the answer is yes, fantastic.

We’ll get everything sorted and welcome you as a member – it’s a simple joining process, with no contract, and no joining fee.

If the answer is no, that’s absolutely fine too.

We’re not trying to be the right gym for everybody. We’re trying to be the right gym for the people who value the sort of environment we’ve worked hard to create.

That’s why we offer a seven-day trial in the first place.

So, take your time, train as you normally would, ask questions and enjoy the week.
