Weight training is still my main passion, and my personal bests in the ‘big three’ lifts to date are a 160kg bench press, a 230kg squat and a 240kg deadlift.
I have competed in powerlifting up to National level. Now, however, I train for the simple reason that I enjoy it, and enjoy the results.
Whilst my personal journey is about strength and muscle gain, I have vast experience helping clients to also lose body fat and prepare for events, challenges, or just to live a life that feels easier. Most things are easier with a bit of strength under your belt, as most of our clients will happily attest to. I’ve logged over 25,000 hours of one-to-one training with clients, so rest assured you’re dealing with someone who routinely gets their clients the results they are looking for.

Like many others, I was never a sports star at school and only began exercising and using a
gym, in my forties when I realised I needed to lose weight. I started my fitness journey at a
local leisure centre’s aerobics session before trying a range of different classes and then
discovering a passion for weightlifting.
At the age of 50 I was encouraged by a trainer to take part in a kettlebell sport competition
and won my first ever medal! That was followed by winning many more medals, breaking
British records and eventually representing England at international level. As running is
assistance work for Kettlebell Sport, I also ran two half marathons and was a regular face at
Colwick Parkrun until 2021.
Needing more challenge, I changed direction in 2020 and began exploring powerlifting,
competing with some bigger weights!
I am a parent and grandparent and taught in primary schools for 32 years, retiring from
teaching very recently. This gives me an understanding of the challenges of finding time to
work, care for family and exercise. My teaching skills help me break new ideas into bite size
pieces and support individuals to make progress at their own level.
All the above gives me understanding about how it feels to be a beginner and new to training as well as how to train at a high level. I have more than 20 years’ experience of using gyms and training. Many individuals feel nervous and uncertain about how to use weights in a gym – I did too when I was getting started.
My aim is to introduce people of all ages to the gym, show them how to lift safely and develop their own exercise habits leading them to feel physically and mentally strong long into later life.

I've been a lifelong fitness lover, from playing county-level rugby in my youth to more recently, running marathons and ultra-marathons. I've also spent countless hours in the gym, lifting weights and building strength. But it's not always been easy...
...after a few years away from fitness to recover from a chronic pain injury, I went on my own weight loss journey, shedding over 30kgs (4.5 stone) This experience not only rekindled my passion for running and the gym, but also gave me a deep understanding of what it feels like to be on the other side of the journey—the challenges, the victories, and the mindset required to succeed.
Now, as a fully qualified and insured personal trainer, I'm dedicated to helping you achieve your fitness goals. I combine my professional knowledge with real-life experience to create personalized plans that are effective and sustainable. I've been there every step of the way, and I'm here to support you in becoming the best version of yourself.
Let's get started on your fitness journey together.

My passion is strength, hypertrophy training (bodybuilding style training) and teaching the correct methods and progressions. I have spent over 20 years training personally and have been coaching over the last five.
My personal enjoyment as a trainer comes from me passing on knowledge that I’ve learnt over the years and helping people enjoy the process. I’ve made so many mistakes over the years whether it be exercise selection or frequency of training and can help you avoid these pitfalls.
I love it when my clients get to a stage where they both understand and enjoy the process of strength training – increments, frustrations, achievements and all.
I look forward to the opportunity to help you with these goals! Come say hi if you see me in the gym, always happy to help if I can.
