How do I join Real World Fitness?

If you want to join our gym, it’s pretty simple. Contact us on 07739 904857, or via this contact form.

We’ll then arrange a convenient time for you to come in and have a tour (not a hard sell, just a show around!) and you can either sign up in person, or you can have a couple of free sessions in the gym to make your mind up.

How do I start personal training with Real World Fitness?

Just have a browse of this personal training page and then send us a message! We’ll get in touch to arrange a convenient time for you to come and have a totally free, no obligation chat with us (or a phone call if you’d prefer)

Do I need to have personal training to use the gym?

No, not at all!

RWF is fully open to the general public. Although many of our members do haveย personal training, thereโ€™s absolutely no need to have sessions with the trainers in order to join. Please see theย gym page for details of gym-only membership.

Can I have personal training, but not join the gym?

Of course! We have quite a few clients who find it more convenient to do their solo sessions at a gym nearer their home/work, but come to RWF for their personal training. Thatโ€™s fine! If youโ€™re happy with your current gym, but just want toย tap into our PT expertise, youโ€™re more than welcome. You wonโ€™t ever get a hard sell to join the gym.

Do you have parking?

Yes โ€“ pretty much unlimited. We have plenty of parking dedicated to the gym, but also have use of a 200-space communal car park within 60 seconds walk of the gym. You will never be stuck for a free-of-charge parking spot, regardless of time of day.

I cycle – is there anywhere safe to leave my bike?

Yes โ€“ we have railings you can secure your bike to. Itโ€™s within our private car park, so as safe as it gets! We even have a spare D-Lock you can borrow if you forget yours.

Do you offer day passes?

Yes, at ยฃ20 per person, per day. Please drop us a message before you come to arrange payment and make sure one of the team is available to show you around the gym.

Can my son/daughter train in your gym, as they are under 16?

Yes, thatโ€™s no problem. They must be accompanied by a paying adult though. We add under 16s to any adultโ€™s membership for an additional ยฃ20 a month.

If you have kids that don’t want to train, but you need to bring with you for childcare reasons, there’s no charge. We even have a PS4 and a room they can chill out in while you train.

I’m an experienced lifter. Am I going to be welcome coming in and lifting heavy?

Of course! RWF Gym has long been involved in powerlifting, and so we are very accommodating to strong lifters. Our kit is perfectly set up for you to lift as heavy as you like โ€“ weโ€™ll even spot you if needed.

I’m a complete newbie to the gym. Am I going to feel intimidated?

Not at all! Over half of the gym membership has had, or is having, personal training. Not everyone in any gym is perfect at lifting, and weโ€™re no different. Weโ€™ve deliberately created a gym where a seasoned lifter can be working out next to someone having their first session, and no-one feels out of place. And, if you really need some guidance, we have a team of expert PTs to help you out.

Doesn’t everyone in gyms take steroids?

No, is the short answer. Unfortunately, small gyms and those that lean towards strength training often fall foul of this misconception.

RWF is, and has always been, strongly opposed to steroids and Performance Enhancing Drugs in sport, whether thatโ€™s professional sport or hobbyists.

As such, we donโ€™t only disapprove of steroid/PED use, but we actively ban it from the gym. Any member found to be using drugs has their membership cancelled.

As a family friendly, โ€œreal worldโ€ training environment, thereโ€™s just no place for it here.

Gyms are full of 20-somethings. I’m older, I’ll feel out of place!

We have gym members and personal training clients in their 70s!

In fact, over half of our gym membership is over 40yrs old.

RWF is designed to make sure you feel comfortable whatever your age, starting ability or goals. Donโ€™t ever think youโ€™re too old to get started!

Our PTs have extensive experience with all age groups โ€“ if youโ€™re nervous, book a chat with one of us and weโ€™ll talk you through the process over a coffee!

I’m looking for a personal trainer in West Bridgford, can you help?

Yes! Weโ€™re only 8 mins away from West Bridgford, and we have plenty of parking so you can get to the gym, complete your session with one of our fantasticย personal trainers, and be home again in no time! Remember you can book oneย free personal training sessionย with no obligation, so if youโ€™re in West Bridgford and looking for a personal trainer, weโ€™ve got you covered!

I’m looking for a female personal trainer, can you help?

Of course! We have two great female personal trainers at RWF Nottingham, so if youโ€™d prefer a female personal trainer, just ask when you book yourย free taster session!

Is your gym genuinely family-friendly?

100%. I set up Real World Fitness shortly before my daughter was born, and she’s been a part of the gym since she was a baby! So, yes – we are genuinely family friendly, and we LOVE getting families training together. We have DBS checked trainers that can even work with your kids if you want that level of training for them – just drop us a query here to arrangeย  a chat!

Is there Wi-Fi at Real World Fitness?

Yes, we have hyperfast business broadband WiFi, and some ethernet ports as well for a more secure connection when needed. You can reliably work from here if you need to jump on a call or a Teams meeting.

Does Real World Fitness have showers and changing rooms?

Yes, we have four large, individual, private changing and shower rooms with power showers, sinks and mirrors. We also provide free basic toiletries and a baby change mat. There are also feminine hygiene bins in the female toilet area.

What makes Real World Fitness different from other Nottingham gyms?

Quite a few things – but probably the big one is the fact that we will NEVER over-populate the gym. We deliver a lot of personal training sessions, and so having a gym that’s too busy would mean that those clients would not be getting value for money. So, please be assured we will never become a smaller version of a rammed commercial gym. It’s not our business model.

Can beginners book personal training at Real World Fitness?

Absolutely! Most of our personal training clients started working with us with little or no experience of training, and a genuine trepidation about gyms in general. We pride ourselves in getting loads of people that “don’t like gyms” to end up loving ours!

Is Real World Fitness open 24 hours?

Yes, we are – but only for full paying members. We have full CCTV, panic buttons, automated climate control and secure keypad door entry. Once you join RWF, you’ll be given your access codes and will be free to use the gym whenever works for you.

Day passes can only be used in our staffed hours, which are variable based on holidays and time of year, and so the 24hr gym access doesn’t apply to day passes.

Do I need to sign a long-term contract at Real World Fitness?

No, not at all. We don’t believe that tying someone legally to a gym they no longer want to train at is very good for business relationships! We simply ask for a month’s notice out of courtesy if you decide you want to leave us.

Do you charge a joining fee at Real World Fitness?

No, we don’t – we’ve never understood why someone should have to pay to have the right to pay again! So, no. No joining or admin fees.

Do I need an induction before using the gym?

No, but we will show you around and ask what kind of training you want to do. As a new member, we’ll keep an eye on you if necessary, and you can always ask for help at any point. If you’re very nervous, or completely un-used to gyms, it may be worth talking to us about some personal training, even if it’s only a couple of sessions to get you up to speed!

Do you let members bring a friend?

Yes. Every full member gets one free guest pass each month. Itโ€™s a simple perk we offer so you can bring a training partner or let a friend try the gym out before they join. Just drop us a quick message first so we can OK it.

Extra guest visits after the free one are available at our standard day-pass rate.
